Hal Cosentino

Hal Cosentino (he/him) is a transgender writer, performer, and educator. 

Plays: Alpharetta Lost (2025 Terrence McNally Incubator Finalist, 2025-2026 Playwrights’ Center Core Apprenticeship Finalist); Once In A Hundred Years (O’Neill Semifinalist 2025, UT-Austin 2025 academic production); Oh, Buddy (O’Neill Finalist 2024, upcoming Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays Vol. 2); Lineage (O’Neill Finalist 2023). 

Performance: Hal has performed in his own work, including Oh, Buddy and Godfriend. Also: Very Blue Light by Daphne Silbiger; Family Reunion conceived by Nora Sharp; Raymondo by Annie Siddons; Everybody by Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins.

Teaching: Hal teaches at the Powerhouse Theater Summer Training Program at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Starting in August 2025, Hal will be the Murphy Fellow in Playwriting at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.

Hal grew up in the Atlanta suburbs, graduated high school in the mountains of North Carolina, and spent most of his twenties in Chicago. For undergrad, he studied theater at Skidmore College, trained with SITI Company, and spent a semester at the Moscow Art Theatre School. He recently received his M.F.A. in Playwriting from The University of Texas at Austin. Hal often collaborates with his art/life partner, Ellenor Riley-Condit under the name Double Text.

Ellenor Riley-Condit

Ellenor Riley-Condit (she/her) is a theater maker working at the intersection of performance creation and liberatory praxis.

She specializes in processes that balance artistic rigor with collective care, working as a performer, director, deviser, dramaturg, and creative producer. Favorite projects include Then We’ll Rest and Oh, Buddy at UT Austin, A Day’s Work with The Syndicate, and the award-winning film Committee of Six.

As an organizer, she was a cofounder of the Chicago Artists Relief Fund and works with Calling Us In, a national network of creatives dedicated to anti-racist education and action in theater and the arts.

She teaches and makes plays with students of all ages, including as the Faculty and Curriculum Coordinator at Vassar College’s Powerhouse Theater Training Program, where she has directed Once In A Hundred YearsMarathon, and Trojan Women.

She trained extensively with SITI Company and currently collaborates most closely with her art and life partner, Hal Cosentino, under the name Double Text.
